Practical Information

Here you will find clear details about sessions, fees, policies, and what to expect when working together. If anything is unclear or you have additional questions, you are welcome to bring them to our free discovery call.

How long are therapy sessions?

Individual and couples sessions are 50 minutes long.

We usually meet weekly or every other week. The rhythm is something we can adjust together based on your needs and circumstances.

Where do sessions take place?

I offer virtual therapy across Ontario

Virtual sessions take place over a secure, confidential video platform. You can join from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance companies directly.

You will receive a receipt after each session that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement, if your plan covers psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP).

Payment is made through my secure booking system (Jane App) using credit or debit card.

What is the cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged the full fee.

This policy helps protect the time we set aside for each other and keeps the practice sustainable.

What happens during the free discovery call?

The 20-minute discovery call is an opportunity for us to meet and sense whether we are a good fit. You can share a little about what brings you to therapy, ask any questions you have, and get a feel for how I work. There is no pressure and no obligation to continue.

Many people find this call helpful in deciding whether to take the next step.

What can I expect in the first therapy session?

The first full session is primarily about getting to know each other. We will explore what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and how we might work together. You do not need to have everything figured out beforehand. The pace and depth are always guided by what feels manageable and meaningful for you.

How should I prepare for therapy?

There is no special preparation required. Many people find it helpful to simply arrive with a willingness to be honest with themselves and with me. If you have particular goals or questions in mind, you are welcome to bring them. Everything else can unfold in the sessions.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. What we discuss in our sessions remains private.

The only exceptions are the standard legal and ethical limits that apply to all Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario: situations involving imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, certain legal requirements (such as court orders), or concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable adult. We can discuss these limits together in more detail if you wish.

What if I’m in crisis or need immediate support?

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

I am not able to provide crisis support outside of scheduled sessions. If you need urgent support between sessions, resources such as the Canada Suicide Prevention Service (1-833-456-4566) or your local crisis line are available 24/7.
